Top Recycling Tips for the Festive Season

Christmas is literally just around the corner and that can only mean one thing (aside from all the celebrations and gift giving, eating etc), it means we will accumulate a huge amount of waste over the festive season! Over Christmas we generate around 30% more waste than usual! But the good news is – most of it can be recycled! After Christmas and New Year it always seems like then bin men don’t come for weeks and your rubbish is building up at an alarming rate, every year you’re shocked about how much stuff you have to throw away! Well not this year – follow these top tips and ensure you recycle as much as possible!

Don’t Throw Everything Away!

We all know our glass jars and lids, bottles of wine, cans, plastic bottles, trays and pots, foil and tins can all be recycled so make sure you bag them all up and take them to the nearest bottle bank and recycling centres.

You’re wrapping paper and Christmas cards alone could fill up your wheelie bin! So make sure you recycle these too, whether that means popping them down to a recycling bank or if you’re feeling a bit more creative, storing them away for next year and re-using some of the salvageable wrapping paper and turning the cards into tags for your presents.

Christmas Trees Aren’t Just for Christmas…

Real Christmas trees can add a truly festive feel to your home but what do you do with it in the New Year? Well you could plant it in your garden and let it grow or you could even recycle it yourself by stripping of the pine needles and using them to create a naturally scented pot pourri and use the branches in your log fire or stove. If you don’t fancy the hassle of having to get rid of it yourself we offer Christmas tree removal here at Recyclosaurus so just give us a call and we’ll come and pick it up for you.
